[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]WAW/Bellatrix OnDemand has arrived. For just £6 a month, you’ll have unlimited access to 26 years of British wrestling from the WAW video archives. Subscribing will allow you to watch your favourite homegrown talent from the WAW Academy.
You can’t talk about the talent found in WAW without discussing the Knight Dynasty. The company was established in 1994 by Ricky Knight Sr with a key aim in mind, continuing the heritage and traditions of the unique British wrestling style. WAW isn’t known as “the Home of British Wrestling” for nothing!
The WAW Academy was one of the first modern wrestling schools in the UK and continues to provide one of the most comprehensive development environments today. Roy Knight, then known as the Zebra Kid, was one of the first young wrestlers to come through the Academy in the late 1990s. A five-time former WAW World Heavyweight Champion, Roy has since established himself as one of the most successful singles and tag team wrestlers in the country across a career spanning over 25 years.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yC1G1vJ4LcI” align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In addition to his impressive singles career, Roy was also part of one of the most popular and successful British tag teams of the 21st century, alongside his brother Zak, as the UK Hooligans. When the two brothers have been on the same page they have dominated the WAW tag team division and became a feared duo across the British wrestling industry. Zak is also a former (two-time) World Heavyweight Champion having beaten Steve Corino for the title in 2015 and Dale Broughton in 2018, as well as the current British Heavyweight Champion. Both men have sought to continue WAW’s strong tradition of developing exciting young British wrestlers, with Zak serving as the Academy’s head trainer and Roy having personally trained some of the company’s top talent.
One such student who learned from both Hooligans is our current World Heavyweight Champion, winning the title from Roy in a huge match at Fightmare 3 just over a year ago. The high-flying sensation Ricky Knight Jr is a third-generation wrestler, the son of Roy and grandson of Ricky Sr. RKJ was the first teenager to win the World Heavyweight title and has been a dominant champion ever since. His career began at a young age, first as the masked Battlekat III alongside his cousin and tag team partner, PJ Knight. The young duo eventually went their separate ways and have found great success as singles competitors, both being former Open Light Heavyweight Champions and currently holding the World and European Heavyweight titles, respectively. The former Battlekats controversially re-united at Hard Times earlier this year, when RKJ helped PJ win the European title by interfering in the latter’s match against Brad Slayer for the vacant title.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Slayer is also a successful product of the WAW Academy, with a similar pedigree in both singles and tag team wrestling as the UK Hooligans. A two-time former World Heavyweight Champion, Slayer’s wrestling career began as one half of Special Edition with best friend Kip Sabian. The duo were alongside the Hooligans as one of WAW’s top teams before splitting to pursue careers as singles competitors. Brad quickly captured the British and World Heavyweight titles while Kip found success in the Light Heavyweight division, before making waves across the UK and, eventually, the United States.
Kip isn’t the only WAW Academy graduate currently wrestling for a major American company. NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis also began his career in WAW before his career took him across the Atlantic Ocean in 2008. The National Treasure has defended his Tens Pounds of Gold at multiple WAW events, including against Ricky Knight Jr and Brad Slayer, the first-ever openly LGBT wrestler to challenge for the prestigious title.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pGAz47Jh4A” align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]You can see all of these names and many more now on WAW/Bellatrix OnDemand![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
